Samsung has been working on the One UI 9 update for the Galaxy S24 series for a few weeks now. While the company hasn’t started beta testing yet, the first Geekbench benchmark for the S24 Ultra running Android 17 has now surfaced. The listing hints at a slight performance boost.
Galaxy S24 Ultra appears with Android 17 (One UI 9) on Geekbench
We recently spotted the global variant of the Galaxy S24 Ultra (SM-S928B) on Geekbench running Android 17-based One UI 9. The tested unit packs 12GB RAM and is running firmware version S928BXXU6EZG2. In terms of CPU performance, the device scored 2197 in the single-core test and 7097 in the multi-core test.
If you’re already familiar with the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s performance, you’ll notice a slight improvement in the multi-core score. However, the overall benchmark numbers remain very close to what the device already delivers on One UI 8.5. This suggests that One UI 9 isn’t bringing any major performance boost. That said, users can still expect a smoother and more refined experience once the stable update arrives.
Unlike One UI 8.5, which introduced several noticeable additions, One UI 9 focuses more on refinement than flashy new features. Samsung is expected to polish the overall interface and improve consistency across the system. In addition, the company plans to enhance blur effects and make animations smoother, improving user experience.
As for the beta program, the S24 lineup is still expected to receive a One UI 9 beta before the stable rollout. However, nothing is confirmed yet, as no One UI 9 beta builds for any older Galaxy devices have been spotted so far. At the moment, the beta program remains exclusive to the Galaxy S26.
For now, all eyes are on July 22, when Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z8 lineup. The event is also expected to mark the official stable debut of Android 17-based One UI 9. This will give us our first complete look at Samsung’s next major software.
