Samsung Prepares One UI 9 Update for Galaxy S24 & S23 Series

Samsung has already started One UI 9 development for most of its recent flagship, foldable, and budget Galaxy devices. Now, the company is expanding testing to older flagship models as well. Recently, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 series appeared with their first One UI 9 test builds on Samsung’s internal servers. This confirms that development is moving forward for more devices.

Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 series appear with the first One UI 9 internal builds

According to Fahad on X, Samsung has begun One UI 9 testing for its 2024 flagship lineup, the Galaxy S24 series. The devices have appeared on internal servers with firmware versions ending in EZF9. At the moment, there is no information regarding One UI 9 development for the Galaxy S24 FE.

Meanwhile, the same source reports that Samsung is testing Android 17-based One UI 9 on the older Galaxy S23 lineup as well. The build spotted for the 2023 flagships is identified as GZF9. 

This will likely be the final One UI update for the Galaxy S23 series. If Samsung follows the same pattern seen with older devices like the Galaxy S22 lineup, S23 phones may not receive the One UI 9.5 update (if it exists).

As far as the One UI 9 beta program is concerned, the Galaxy S24 series has a decent chance of joining beta testing at some point, although no beta builds have surfaced yet. The situation looks different for the Galaxy S23 series. Samsung will likely skip the beta program for these devices. Instead, they may move directly to the stable release when the time comes.

Nonetheless, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Samsung is now fully focused on One UI 9. Over the past week alone, a large number of Galaxy devices have appeared with internal test builds, showing that development is progressing at a rapid pace.

For now, all eyes remain on July 22. On this date, Samsung is expected to unveil its Z8 foldables, marking the stable debut of One UI 9.
