Samsung has already begun One UI 9 testing for a wide range of Galaxy devices, ranging from top-tier flagships to budget phones. Now, the company is expanding Android 17-based One UI 9 development to even more models. Recently, the Galaxy Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 have appeared with internal One UI 9 builds. This shows that Samsung is now fully focused on its next major software release.

Samsung readies One UI 9 for more Fan Edition and foldable devices

Starting with the Galaxy S25 FE. A few weeks ago, Samsung began One UI 9 testing for the standard Galaxy S25 lineup. Now the Fan Edition model has joined the list as well. The latest firmware spotted for the device carries build number S731BXXU7CZG2. As always, this doesn’t mean the update is arriving anytime soon. It simply confirms that development has begun.

Moving to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5. As reported by Tarun Vats, Samsung’s 2023 foldables have also appeared with a One UI 9 firmware file on internal servers in India and Europe. However, the exact builds numbers remain unknown, at least for now.

Meanwhile, the South Korean firm is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) and Galaxy Z Flip 8 with Android 17-based One UI 9 pre-installed. The new foldables are set to debut on July 22. In addition, sales are expected to begin in early August.

Older Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S25 FE, Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, will have to wait a little longer. Samsung is expected to take the One UI 9 beta program through a few more rounds in the coming months. After that, it will start the stable rollout for older eligible Galaxy devices.
