Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 7 are First to Receive Samsung’s July 2026 Update

Samsung has started rolling out the July 2026 update to Galaxy devices. However, instead of smartphones, the company is first delivering the latest security patches to its watches. The Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 7 models are picking up this month’s security release in select markets. Samsung hasn’t even detailed the patches yet.

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 7 lineups are currently receiving the July update in Europe, South Korea, and select other markets. The new firmware build numbers end with AZF4 for the 2025 models and BZF4 for the 2024 models. The update file weighs around 170MB, though the build version and file size may vary depending on the model, size, connectivity variant, and region.

As mentioned above, Samsung has not yet released its official security bulletin for the July 2026 patch. So it’s unclear exactly which vulnerabilities have been addressed. Monthly security releases generally include fixes for dozens of Android operating system vulnerabilities along with Samsung-specific security issues affecting Galaxy devices. We will let you know when we have the details.

Meanwhile, if you own a Galaxy Watch 8 or Galaxy Watch 7, you can check for the update through the Galaxy Wearable app on your paired phone. Simply navigate to Galaxy Wearable > Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install. If the update isn’t available yet, don’t worry. Samsung is releasing it in phases, so it may take a few days before it reaches all regions.

With the July rollout now underway for its latest smartwatches, Samsung is also expected to begin updating compatible Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the coming days. Flagships like the Galaxy S26 series are the most likely candidates to receive the update first. However, Samsung’s rollout order can sometimes be unpredictable. We’ll keep you posted.
