While Samsung remains busy with One UI 8.5 rollouts, the company has also started broader work on Android 17-based One UI 9. The Galaxy S25 series has now appeared on official test servers with its first internal One UI 9 build. This confirms that development and testing are progressing behind the scenes.

Samsung begins internal testing of One UI 9 for Galaxy S25 lineup

Samsung’s 2025 flagship lineup, the Galaxy S25 series, recently surfaced on official test servers running One UI 9. As revealed by tipster Tarun Vats, the company has started internal development, although the firmware build has not been decrypted yet. It’s the first real sign of Samsung working on Android 17-based software for last year’s flagships.

If the development progresses smoothly, Samsung may roll out One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S25 lineup in a few weeks. It has already released two beta updates for the Galaxy S26 series. The company will debut the stable version in late July alongside the new foldables. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) have also previously appeared on test servers with One UI 9 builds.

Unlike One UI 8.5, the new version doesn’t bring major UI changes this time. Instead, Samsung is focusing on making the interface simpler and cleaner. Of course, there will be some feature additions as well, including a Tap to Share function for easy file transfers. Samsung is also developing fresh AI tools for the new foldables.

That said, One UI 8.5 remains Samsung’s current priority. It aims to wrap up the rollout fast, possibly before the end of this month, to focus on One UI 9. More eligible devices should start appearing with One UI 9 builds on servers as we get closer to the official debut. We’ll keep you posted.
