Samsung’s latest flagship wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, deliver solid call quality even in noisy environments. The company has now explained how the earbuds use multiple sensors and AI-powered processing to achieve this capability. In addition, it validates the technology through exhaustive real-world testing.
How Samsung improves call clarity on Galaxy Buds 4 Pro
Samsung has integrated Sensor Fusion technology into the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro to improve voice capture during calls. The system combines data from multiple sensors to adapt to the surrounding noise. As a result, the user’s speech can cut through the noise with incredible clarity.
The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro feature three microphones: two external and one internal. The former captures the user’s voice while the latter detects speech transmitted through the body. Thanks to the Voice Pickup Unit (VPU) sensor, the earbuds can detect the head’s physical vibrations via bone-conduction technology.

The collected voice data is processed using an AI-based system called a Deep Neural Network (DNN). It helps isolate speech and reduce background noise in real time. Samsung optimized the algorithm to run directly on the earbuds. The company reduced the processing load to about 10% of the original requirement and cut the model size to 30%. This allows cutting-edge voice enhancement features to run within compact earbuds.
The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro also analyzes past, present, and predictive sound data to match changing environments. This ensures the user can experience true call clarity. Moreover, the upgraded system can also capture 16 times more vocal detail than previous models. This helps preserve speech clarity, including higher-pitched sounds, consonants, and subtle word endings.
Furthermore, the earbuds can detect changes in earbud fit that may allow unwanted background noise to seep in. By analyzing signals from the internal and external microphones, the earbuds can adjust audio in real time to maintain call quality.
To test the technology, Samsung recreated real-world environments in its labs using wind simulators and recordings from actual locations. The company also conducted field tests in busy cafes, loud department stores, train stations, and more. It found that the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro “offers an unprecedented level of call clarity, helping you find your voice, anywhere.” You can check out the best deal on the earbuds in the US here.
