Samsung has already begun One UI 9 development for a large number of flagship, foldable, and budget Galaxy devices. Now, the Android 17-based update is being tested for even more models. Recently, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy A37 appeared with their first One UI 9 builds on Samsung’s internal servers. This shows that the company is steadily preparing its next major software update for all eligible devices.

Samsung begins One UI 9 testing for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6 and A37

Samsung started One UI 9 development for its 2024 flagship lineup a few weeks ago. Now the focus has shifted to its Z6 foldables as well. As spotted by build tracker Tarun Vats, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 have appeared with their first Android 17-based One UI 9 firmware on Samsung’s servers across regions like India and Europe. However, just like many devices spotted previously, it is not possible to decrypt the build. As a result, the firmware numbers remain unknown, at least for now.

The Korean firm has also expanded One UI 9 development to the Galaxy A37. After the Galaxy A57 joined testing earlier, its younger sibling has now appeared with its first One UI 9 file carrying build number A376BXXU3BZG1. While this doesn’t reveal much, it confirms that Samsung has officially started working on the first major software update for the device.

Based on Android 17, One UI 9 is Samsung’s next major OS release. However, if you’re expecting a major redesign similar to what One UI 8.5 brought, this update may disappoint you. Instead of significant visual changes, Samsung appears to be focusing on refining the overall experience. The aim is to improve consistency across the interface and make it clutter-free.

For now, all eyes remain on Samsung’s Unpacked event later this month, where the Galaxy Z8 lineup is expected to make its debut alongside the stable release of One UI 9.
