Samsung’s next major software update, One UI 9, is being prepared for budget phones as well. The first Android 17-based software builds for the Galaxy A57 and A17 5G recently appeared on test servers, suggesting that development is underway. The former could also get beta access ahead of the stable rollout later this year.

Samsung appears to have started One UI 9 development for Galaxy A devices

Last month, Samsung kicked off its official One UI 9 beta program, letting testers experience Android 17 early. As of now, only the Galaxy S26 series can join the beta in select markets, including the US. The company could expand the beta program to more devices in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Samsung has recently listed One UI 9 builds for the Galaxy A57 and A17 5G on its internal test servers. The former carries firmware version BZF3, while the latter bears DZF1. This suggests that development is happening beyond premium models (such as Galaxy S25).

While the listing does not imply that the mid-range models will take part in the beta program, the Galaxy A57 should at least get access to it at some point. What we can interpret is that both models are eligible for One UI 9, and their updates are now being prepared.

Samsung could debut the final One UI 9 alongside its next-gen foldables on July 22. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide), Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8 should arrive pre-installed with the new software. Eventually, the stable rollout journey will reach older Galaxy devices in phases.

Meanwhile, Samsung has recently slashed the price of the Galaxy A57 5G in the US. The premium mid-range model is now available for $489.9, a drop from the regular $549.99. As for Galaxy A17 5G, it is available for purchase at $199.99, with a trade-in value of up to $100 and free bundles.
