OpenAI is reportedly gearing up to bring a major overhaul to its ChatGPT. The AI chatbot will transform into an advanced platform by integrating AI agents that complete tasks on the user’s behalf. These changes could begin to hit the platform in the coming weeks.

ChatGPT will evolve into a super app with AI agents

While ChatGPT serves as a day-to-day AI chatbot, most users use it for free, limiting OpenAI’s revenue potential. Now that the company is planning to launch an IPO, it will need to gain investor trust through a solid revenue strategy. In this effort, it plans to transform ChatGPT into a “superapp,” according to a report from the Financial Times.

OpenAI may focus on integrating AI agents that can perform activities rather than just generate responses. As a result, the chatbot will transform into a proactive digital assistant. The redesign may also prioritize OpenAI’s coding product Codex, which now has more than 5 million active users. It can handle multiple tasks in parallel, speeding up work and development.

“It will transcend the actual surface . . . what we’re building towards is where you have your own personal agent that is capable of helping you . . . across everything in your life, be it personally or at work,” said Thibault Sottiaux, who leads OpenAI’s core product and platform.

Basically, ChatGPT will offer more advanced AI capabilities to fulfill users’ complex needs. This could allow the platform to redirect users toward coding tools, image generation, and third-party services. The company will bring the overhaul to both the web and mobile ChatGPT apps in the coming weeks.

Other revenue growth strategies include focusing more on business users. As of now, these customers account for 40% of the company’s revenue. The firm now aims to increase to 50% by the end of the year. We will let you know when the redesigned ChatGPT begins rolling out to everyone.
