Galaxy Tab Active 6 Could Arrive in Early 2027 with Major Upgrades

Samsung appears to be getting ready for the next generation of its rugged tablet lineup. The company is reportedly working on the Galaxy Tab Active 6, which will succeed the Tab Active 5 launched in early 2024. The new model is expected to arrive next year.

Samsung’s rugged tablets don’t follow the same predictable release schedule as its mainstream Galaxy Tab lineup. The company has taken different approaches with the Tab Active series over the years, sometimes launching both standard and Pro variants and sometimes skipping one altogether. Even when both models arrive, they often debut months or even years apart.

For example, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 arrived in January 2024, followed by the Pro model in April 2025. Samsung is now readying a successor to the former, potentially targeting an early 2027 launch. Information obtained by SamMobile reveals that the Galaxy Tab Active 6 is in development with the model number SM-X316B. It is the global variant of the device with 5G connectivity.

Like before, Samsung may also launch a Wi-Fi-only version. An early 2027 launch means the device should run Android 17-based One UI 9 out of the box. However, the rest of the specs are a mystery.

That said, given the lengthy gap between releases, the Galaxy Tab Active 6 should bring substantial upgrades over the current model. Potential improvements could include a faster processor, enhanced battery efficiency, upgraded connectivity options, and stronger AI-powered productivity features. After all, AI has been integral to Samsung’s recent product launches.

Samsung may also refine the tablet’s rugged credentials with improved durability certifications and enhanced support for enterprise deployments. More details should emerge in the coming months as the device moves closer to its expected launch window in early 2027.
