Samsung is clearly not done teasing its next foldable. After posting several “New Shape. New Joy” teasers and also new Spider-Man teasers hinting at a wider Galaxy Z Fold 8, the company has now shared three new social media clips. These clips focus on something more practical: app experiences.
This time, the teasers highlight Instagram, YouTube, and Netflix. This strongly suggests Samsung has worked with major apps to optimize them for the upcoming wider foldable form factor. An early hands-on leak suggested that some apps do not properly leverage the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s wider screen. It looks like the company is working toward it.
Samsung has already confirmed its next Galaxy Unpacked event for July 22. At that event, the company is expected to unveil its new wider foldable, along with other Galaxy devices.
Instagram gets the “Most-liked shape” treatment
The first teaser focuses on Instagram with the slogan “Most-liked shape”. That line is clearly playing on Instagram likes, but it also hints at something deeper. Samsung may be suggesting that Instagram has been optimized for both the folded and unfolded experiences on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide). That could mean better layouts for scrolling, posting, and viewing Reels. Or it could mean even capturing content directly on the foldable. This matters since most content is still 16:9 on Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.

Honestly, this is exactly where a wider Fold could matter. Instagram has never felt perfect on foldables, especially when unfolded. A wider, more natural aspect ratio could make photos, videos, Reels, and editing tools feel less awkward. This would compare to the taller layouts we’ve seen on previous Galaxy Z Fold models.
YouTube teaser targets creators
The second teaser focuses on YouTube and shows three Creator Awards: Silver, Gold, and Diamond, alongside the text “New shape for all creators”. That feels pretty intentional. Samsung is likely pointing to a more optimized YouTube experience on the new Fold. This is especially true for creators who watch, edit, upload, or review content on the go. The wider display could make video playback feel more natural. It could also give creators extra room for comments, controls, analytics, or multitasking.

There’s also another layer here: Samsung knows YouTubers will be a huge part of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 conversation. A new form factor is exactly the kind of thing tech creators love to test, compare, and react to. So this teaser feels like Samsung speaking directly to the creator crowd before launch.
Netflix gets the “perfect shape”
The third teaser highlights Netflix with the text “Perfect for every shape of a story”. This one is probably the easiest to understand. Samsung appears to be teasing a better Netflix experience on the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8, both folded and unfolded.

A wider outer and inner display could make movies and series feel less cramped. It could also reduce some of the awkward scaling issues foldables sometimes face with streaming apps. Samsung has worked with major app partners before, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Netflix received specific layout or playback optimizations for the new form factor.
Samsung wants to prove the shape is not just a gimmick
Samsung’s earlier teasers focused on the physical shape itself: pizza slices, chocolate bars, puzzles, cropped images, and printed tickets, all pointed toward a shorter, wider foldable. But with these new teasers, the conversation shifts from hardware to software.
Instead of just saying “look, it’s wider”, Samsung now seems to be saying that this wider shape actually works better with the apps you use every day. That matters a lot because a new foldable form factor only works if apps are ready for it.
For years, Galaxy Z Fold users asked Samsung for a wider display. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 already improved the cover screen, but the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) could go even further with a more unusual form factor. The challenge is simple. Samsung needs to prove this design is useful, not just different.
By teasing Instagram, YouTube, and Netflix, Samsung is clearly trying to show that the new shape can improve social media, creator workflows, and entertainment. These are three of the most important use cases for a foldable device. And if Samsung really optimized these apps properly, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could feel like one of the biggest foldable changes the company has made in years.
