Samsung May Launch Its First Bone Conduction Earphones in H2 2025

by | Mar 13, 2025 | Galaxy Buds, News

Samsung is planning to innovate further with its already successful audio product lineup. The redesigned Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro were a major success, but there’s more to come, it seems. The Korean firm is reportedly gearing up to launch Bone Conduction Earphones in the second half of 2025.

In case you are not familiar, Bone Conduction technology is relatively new. Instead of vibrating near the eardrum, Bone Conduction technology directly transmits sound to the inner ear. It uses the bones of the skull and bypasses the eardrum and outer ear. It doesn’t involve inserting the earphones directly into your ear with a tip. Instead, it’s an open-ear wireless stereo product (OWS Product) that transmits sound from around the ears and directly into the eardrum without vibrating near the eardrum.

Samsung is developing Bone Conduction earphones with the codename “Able”

According to a report from Korean outlet Sedaily, Samsung will launch its first Bone Conduction earphone at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which is expected to take place sometime in July. The codename for the upcoming audio product is “Able.” However, it’s unclear whether Samsung will fit it into the existing Galaxy Buds lineup or introduce a completely new line of audio products.

The report adds that Samsung is expected to produce around 1.7 million units of the new “Able” earphones this year. That’s around 15% of the MX Division annual earphone shipments. It could expand production if the device sees enough traction, though. This new technology is safer for the ears, so it has the potential to be a game-changer.

It’s no rocket science that using earphones for extended periods can cause either moderate hearing loss or ear infections. If we seal the ear, we cannot recognize outside sounds, and this is dangerous outdoors while cycling or running. While Ambient sound features help, there are limitations. Companies like Sony and Huawei have already introduced their open-ear style buds, and this will be Samsung’s first entry into this market.
