Galaxy Buds FE 2 Could Launch Soon as Samsung Develops Firmware

Late in 2023, Samsung launched its first pair of Fan Edition wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds FE. These are an affordable pair of earphones, the cheapest from the Korean firm yet. It appears the company is now gearing up to introduce a second-gen model, presumably called the Galaxy Buds FE 2.

Samsung has the Galaxy Buds FE 2 in the works

The Galaxy Buds FE debuted in October of 2023. Samsung followed up with the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro last year. The latter two are premium offerings featuring a stemmed design — earlier Samsung earphones sport a rounded, stemless design, including the FE. The Galaxy Buds FE 2 is likely to retain the same look as its predecessor.

Unfortunately, we do not have visuals or any other information to confirm that. All we know at the moment is Samsung has the new pair in the works. It is developing the Galaxy Buds FE 2 with the model number SM-R410, Galaxy Club reports — the first-gen model was SM-R400.

Not just the hardware, but Samsung has also commenced firmware development for the new Fan Edition earphones. This suggests the company plans to launch the product soon. However, there is no word yet on when the Galaxy Buds FE 2 may go official. Samsung has a bunch of other products in the pipeline. The new buds could arrive alongside any of those.

The next major launch could be the Galaxy S25 Edge in April, followed by the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 in July. The new foldables are expected to be accompanied by the Galaxy Z Flip FE, so it might be a good time for Samsung to unveil the Galaxy Buds FE 2.

That said, Samsung will also launch the Galaxy Tab S10 FE series and the Galaxy S25 FE later this year. Throwing a pair of FE earbuds alongside them may not be a bad idea either. Hopefully, we will get a clearer picture soon. Samsung has always been poor at plugging leaks, so a major Galaxy Buds FE 2 leak shouldn’t be too far off.
