First Look at Galaxy Z Flip 8: Samsung Sticks to Same Design

Samsung’s next clamshell foldable is beginning to take shape, with the first CAD-based renders now surfacing online. Shared by reliable tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer in collaboration with MyMobiles, the visuals offer an early look at the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The device sports a familiar design, but most of its specs remain under wraps.

Galaxy Z Flip 8 renders show an identical design

The sources published multiple high-quality 5K CAD renders and a 360-degree video, showcasing the Galaxy Z Flip 8 from various angles. The device looks identical to its predecessor, and even has similar dimensions. It allegedly measures approximately 166.8 x 75.4 x 6.6 mm when unfolded and 85.4 x 75.4 x 13.2 mm when folded. The Flip 7 measures 166.7 x 75.2 x 6.5 mm when unfolded and 85.5 x 75.2 x 13.7 mm when folded.

As you can see, the new model is 0.5 mm thinner when folded, despite almost identical unfolded dimensions. This suggests Samsung has refined the design for gapless folding. The company has been improving the hinge mechanism to reduce the gap with each new generation.

Otherwise, there’s little to separate the two generations visually. The renders show the same dual-camera setup on the cover panel, paired with an LED flash. The cover display is expected to stay around 4.1 inches, while the inner foldable screen unfolds to roughly 6.9 inches — both unchanged from last year. In essence, Samsung appears to be sticking with a proven design.

However, we may see some improvements in performance. Internal specifications such as the chipset, battery capacity, charging speeds, and software enhancements are still under wraps. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 should run Samsung’s Exynos 2600 2nm chipset, which also powers the Galaxy S26 and S26+ in most global markets.

As with most CAD-based leaks, small details like final bezel thickness and color options may differ in the retail version. expect more leaks about the Galaxy Z Flip 8 in the coming weeks as Samsung prepares for its launch. The device is rumored to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and an all-new “Wide Fold” on July 22.
