Motorola Razr Fold Price Revealed — Could Samsung Match It?

Motorola recently stepped into the book-style foldable segment with the Motorola Razr Fold. The company has now revealed the pricing and availability details for the US market. The price tag suggests it directly aims to take on Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 while also putting pressure on its next-gen foldable.
Motorola takes on Samsung with Razr Fold pricing strategy
Motorola is not a new player in the foldable smartphone space. The company has already set a solid presence with its clamshell-style Razr foldables, which directly compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip lineup. With the Razr Fold, it is now expanding its portfolio into the book-style category, a segment the Galaxy Z Fold lineup has long dominated.
The Motorola Razr Fold will be available for pre-orders in the US starting May 14, 2026, with general sales kicking off on May 21. Speaking of pricing, the device will retail for $1,899. This means Motorola’s offering is $100 cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which starts at $1,999. Notably, this is the same price as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which debuted in July 2024.
Samsung increased the price of its latest foldable compared to last year’s model, citing higher manufacturing costs. The company may now have to think twice while setting the pricing for its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, which could go official on July 22, 2026. It will be interesting to see whether the firm launches the next-gen foldable at a price similar to the Razr Fold or opts for another price hike.
Samsung remains an experienced player in the book-style foldable category, known for delivering durable designs with slimmer, lighter profiles. The Razr Fold measures 10.04mm when unfolded and 4.7mm when folded, and weighs 243g. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is slimmer at 4.2mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. The device is also lighter at 215g.
Meanwhile, Apple is also reportedly gearing up to enter the foldable space with its iPhone Fold later this year. With more major players entering the segment, the market could see intense competition in the coming months.
