Ahead of the much-awaited One UI 8.5 rollout, Samsung is pushing an unexpected update to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in the US. The release still carries the April 2026 security patch, making it the second update of the month. It’s unclear what exactly the latest release brings and whether it will be rolled out globally.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 gets second April 2026 update in the US

Currently available for carrier-locked units, the latest update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in the US carries the firmware build number F966USQS9AZD3. The official changelog mentions nothing more than security fixes, something the build number also hints at — “S” builds (sixth character from last) typically mean no user-facing changes or improvements.

However, the Fold 7 has already picked up April 2026 security fixes with its first update of the month. As such, the second release may contain some region or carrier-specific patches or optimizations. The update may not be available in other regions. In fact, Samsung also rolled out a similar update for carrier-locked Galaxy S26 and S25 units last month.

If you are using a Galaxy Z Fold 7 in the US, you should install the new update when available. You can check for updates from Settings > Software update > Download and install. Samsung may soon follow up with One UI 8.5 for your device. The company recently released the stable version for beta testers in Korea. US units should get it in the coming days.

Debuted with One UI 8, One UI 8.5 is the first major feature update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. While the OS version remains on Android 16, the new release brings a ton of features and improvements. It still doesn’t count against major OS upgrades, though. The Fold 7 is eligible for seven generations of Android and One UI updates, all the way until Android 23 and One UI 15.
