Samsung’s upcoming foldables could be more expensive than their predecessors. Reports of a price increase for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8 have been circulating for months, and a new leak originating from sales channel sources backs those claims. The company has already decided to raise prices for the devices amid growing cost pressures, with the exact hike varying depending on the market.

Prepare to pay more for Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 models

Prices of several key smartphone components, particularly memory chips, have surged in recent months, significantly increasing the overall bill of materials. Combined with rising manufacturing, logistics, and operational costs, smartphone makers are facing mounting pressure on their profit margins. As a result, many companies are finding it increasingly difficult to absorb these expenses and are increasing product prices.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 series can’t escape this reality. While the company has yet to finalize official pricing, multiple reports suggest that all three foldables could launch at higher prices than their predecessors. The new Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) lacks a direct predecessor, making comparisons difficult, but rumors point to a starting price of around $1,800.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8’s starting price could hover around $1,200, while the premium Fold 8 Ultra may become Samsung’s most expensive foldable yet, with a price tag potentially exceeding $2,100.

Interestingly, Samsung is reportedly exploring ways to soften the impact of the higher retail prices. The company is said to be discussing stronger launch incentives and expanded marketing support to make the devices more attractive during the pre-order period. This could translate into larger trade-in values, free storage upgrades, bundled accessories, or other promotional offers, depending on the region.

That said, do not expect a charger or case in the box. Samsung stopped providing additional accessories a long time ago. However, buyers in the US can get them, and a few more (USB-C earphones, cleaning kit, etc.) with our Mystery Box program. Sign up here and wait for the official launch in late July.
