Samsung is currently working on two major software projects at the same time โ€” completing the One UI 8.5 stable rollout and developing One UI 9. Now, the Korean giant has started One UI 9 testing for its tablet lineup as well. The Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra have appeared with their first One UI 9 builds on internal servers.

Samsung starts One UI 9 development for tablets

We recently spotted Samsung’s latest flagship tablets, the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, running their first Android 17-based One UI 9 builds on the company’s European servers. However, just like the Galaxy S25 series, we couldn’t decrypt the firmware. As a result, the exact build numbers remain unknown. Still, this marks the first clear sign that Samsung has begun working on One UI 9 for its tablet lineup.

As for the One UI 9 beta program, things remain uncertain for the Galaxy Tab S11 series. No One UI 9 beta builds for the tablets have surfaced so far, making it difficult to confirm Samsung’s plans. At the moment, the One UI 9 beta program remains limited to the Galaxy S26 series.

That could change in the coming weeks, though. Devices like the Galaxy S25 series, Z Fold 7, and Flip 7 are expected to join the beta program later. While no beta builds have appeared for them either, Samsung will definitely expand the beta program beyond the S26 series at some point.

Unlike One UI 8.5, One UI 9 is not expected to introduce major visual changes. Instead, Samsung appears to be focusing on refining the overall experience, simplifying the interface, and improving consistency across the system. A wider rollout of this update for older eligible Galaxy devices may begin in September. As always, we will keep you updated with the latest developments for your Galaxy.
