Samsung has finally started rolling out the May 2026 security update to Galaxy devices. The Galaxy A55 is the first to receive the latest monthly patch. More devices should pick up the new patch in the coming days, with some potentially getting it bundled with the One UI 8.5 update.

Galaxy A55 gets Samsung’s May 2026 security update

Earlier this week, Samsung released the first One UI 9 Beta update for the Galaxy S26 series. It came with the May 2026 security patch. The company often does that, including the latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release) with new beta updates. Now, it has started a broader rollout of this month’s patch.

First reported by GalaxyClub, the Galaxy A55 is now picking up the May 2026 security update in the Netherlands. The update may soon expand to additional European markets and the rest of the world. The new release carries firmware version A556BXXSECZDE, though the build number may vary by region.

Samsung’s May 2026 SMR includes fixes for 39 vulnerabilities affecting Android and One UI devices, including a few critical issues. The Galaxy A55 isn’t getting anything more with this update. The good news is that a major feature release is on its way.

The Galaxy A55 is currently running One UI 8.0 and is eligible for One UI 8.5. The update may arrive within the next few weeks, introducing a host of new features and enhancements across the system. Samsung is currently rolling out One UI 8.5 to its recent flagship phones.

Samsung should also expand the rollout of its latest security update to more eligible Galaxy phones and tablets over the coming days and weeks. As usual, users can manually check for the update by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
