With Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event just weeks away, leaks surrounding its upcoming foldables are arriving at a rapid pace. Recent reports have revealed the color options and chipset plans for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, and Fold 8 Ultra. Now, a prominent leaker has backed those details while sharing additional information about the new foldables.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra’s display could see a significant resolution boost
According to Ice Universe, Samsung has substantially improved the display resolution of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. While exact figures were not shared, the tipster described the upgrade as significant, suggesting that the company is aiming to deliver a sharper viewing experience on its most premium foldable. The same source previously claimed that the Fold 8 (Wide) will also feature sharper screens.
They said the Wide model’s cover screen will have a pixel density of 432 pixels per inch (PPI), while its foldable inner display could reach 403 PPI. These figures mark a notable jump over previous-gen Fold phones. The series has always featured some of the best displays in the foldable segment. A major resolution or sharpness bump could further strengthen the Fold lineup’s position.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 may come without Exynos in many markets
Last year, Samsung shipped the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with its in-house Exynos 2500 processor globally. However, its successor may not get Exynos 2600 everywhere. Ice Universe revealed that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will arrive with a Snapdragon chip in the US and China. An earlier leak also hinted at Snapdragon for the new Flip in Japan. The chip in question is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
This processor also powers the Galaxy S26 Ultra worldwide, as well as the S26 and S26+ in some markets. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra are likely to ship with the Qualcomm chip globally.
Besides revealing these details, the tipster confirmed the rumored color options for all three foldables. This came just as the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Fold 8 Ultra appeared in Singapore’s IMDA certification database, another indication that their official unveiling is drawing near. Rumors suggest the company may officially launch these devices on July 22. Stay tuned for more.
