Samsung has wrapped up the One UI 8.5 rollout and shifted its full attention to Android 17-based One UI 9. As we move closer to the official release, the company continues expanding internal testing to more Galaxy devices, including budget models. The latest additions to the list are the Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A35, both of which have now appeared with their first One UI 9 builds on Samsung’s servers.
Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A35 spotted with One UI 9 builds
Starting with the Galaxy A16 5G, Samsung’s popular budget phone has now surfaced with its first Android 17-based One UI 9 firmware on European test servers following its successor, the Galaxy A17 5G. As shared by Tarun Vats, the build carries firmware number A166BXXU8EZF1.

Moving to the Galaxy A35, the Korean firm has also started testing One UI 9 for the mid-range phone. The device recently appeared on servers in Europe with build number A356BXXUAEZF1. As usual, this does not mean that the update will roll out anytime soon. It only confirms that Samsung has started working on the next major software update for the device.
The Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A35 join a growing list of devices that have already entered One UI 9 development. Other models spotted so far include the Galaxy S26 series, S25 series, S24 series, S24 FE, A17 5G, A34, and A56. More Galaxy devices should join the list in the coming weeks as Samsung continues expanding testing.
Samsung is expected to debut stable One UI 9 alongside its next line of foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Fold 8 (Wide), and Z Flip 8. The company could unveil these devices at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22. As for existing eligible devices such as the Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A35, Samsung will likely begin the wider rollout during the final months of the year.
