Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, may bring a major display upgrade. A trusted industry insider claims the device will feature the highest pixel density ever seen on a Samsung foldable smartphone. It’s unclear if the Fold 8 Ultra gets the same improvement.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) leak reveals an important display upgrade

According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will feature a cover display with a pixel density of 432 pixels per inch (PPI), while its foldable inner display could reach 403 PPI. If accurate, both figures would represent a meaningful jump over Samsung’s current foldable devices.

For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers a 422 PPI cover screen and a 368 PPI main display. Meanwhile, Samsung’s premium Galaxy Z TriFold reportedly features a 422 PPI cover display but a significantly lower 268 PPI pixel density on its larger foldable panel. The Fold 8 Wide tops both models.

The higher pixel density should translate into sharper text, crisper images, and improved detail reproduction across everyday tasks. Streaming high-resolution content or browsing the web on the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s large screens should feel smooth and sharp.

Samsung is widely expected to unveil the device in late July. The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, likely taking place on July 22 in London, should be pretty packed. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) may be accompanied by the Fold 8 Ultra, Flip 8, and new Galaxy Watch models. Samsung may also debut a few other products.
