In a matter of a few weeks, roughly two months, Samsung will reportedly take the wraps off its new foldables and smartwatches. There will likely be three foldables, but what about the smartwatches? Previously, we spotted references to the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and a new report suggests there could be a Classic model as well.
2026 Galaxy Watch lineup codenames pop up
Folks over at Android Authority have spotted references to the upcoming Galaxy Watch lineup. Based on those, the Galaxy Watch 8 appears as fresh9, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 as projectv2 and, interestingly, what could be the Galaxy Watch 9 Classic shows up as wise9. More importantly, as the outlet explains, all these references come from Google software, not Samsung’s.
The mention of a Galaxy Watch 9 Classic is a bit of a surprise, considering Samsung typically releases Classic models every two years. Last year, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Before that, we had the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which followed the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. That should give you a sense of how Samsung positions its Classic lineup.
Also, the fact that these codenames surfaced in what appears to be Google software makes things a bit murky. So far, there’s been no clear indication that Samsung plans to launch a Galaxy Watch 9 Classic.
The outlet also also reports that the Pixel Watch 4’s exclusive “Raise to talk” feature could make its way to third-party models. That likely means a future update could bring the feature to Galaxy Watches as well, though it’s unclear when. Possibly with One UI Watch 9? We’ll have to wait and see.
