We’re inching closer to the big unveil of new devices at the next Unpacked event, and leaks keep surfacing. Speaking of smartwatches in particular, Samsung may bring the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 to the show, and a report suggests there will be a cheaper variant of the latter as well.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may get cheaper Bluetooth variant, but not for everyone

The current Galaxy Watch Ultra comes only in an LTE variant, with neither 5G nor a Bluetooth-only option. I’m personally a fan of cellular smartwatches, but buying a non-cellular (BT) variant often saves you some bucks. According to GalaxyClub, Samsung may offer the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 in two variants, including Bluetooth-only.

The report specifically talks about the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 in the European market. In Europe, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could come in two variants, LTE and BT. As you may have guessed, the outlet further clarifies that it’s less likely that a 5G variant of the Watch Ultra 2 will come to Europe.

That also means there’s no telling whether the cheaper Bluetooth variant of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will come to the US. It most certainly won’t, but those in the US have something better. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will support 5G connectivity (with a Snapdragon Wear Elite SoC) in the US. That would make up for the lack of two variants, we hope.

Samsung will most likely debut all the upcoming devices at July Unpacked. According to previous reports, the event could take place in London on July 22. As for what’s likely coming, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 will debut alongside the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. If you’re planning to pick either of these, don’t forget to sign up for our mystery box and claim free gifts for your device.
