Among all the flagship smartphones Samsung has launched in 2025, the Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy Z Fold 7 stand out for one striking reason — their ultra-slim design. At just 5.8mm and 4.2mm thick respectively, these devices push the limits of engineering. But that slimness comes with a trade-off: smaller batteries. Fortunately, Samsung appears ready to tackle this in 2026, with the Galaxy S26 Edge and Fold 8 tipped to bring a meaningful battery boost without compromising sleekness.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 may pack a 5,000mAh battery

According to X user @kro_roe, Samsung will equip the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a 5,000mAh battery, a substantial jump from the Fold 7’s 4,400mAh unit. If true, this marks the biggest battery yet in a Z Fold device, and could help address a major pain point of the lineup. The Fold 8 is also rumored to offer a larger inner screen with a more balanced aspect ratio. Camera upgrades are in the pipeline as well.

The same source adds that the Galaxy S26 Edge will see a similar battery boost, jumping from 3,900mAh to 4,500mAh. Samsung may also offer 45W charging on the new Edge. Additionally, the device will feature slimmer bezels for a more premium front look. We also expect a slimmer design and camera upgrades.

As much as this sounds exciting, it’s worth noting that the source isn’t 100% sure about the authenticity of the information. These figures might have been taken from early prototype testing and could change down the line as Samsung finalizes the devices. The Galaxy S25 Edge should debut in early 2026, while the Fold 8 won’t arrive until July next year. A lot could change during this time.

That said, it’s high time Samsung increased the battery capacity of these lineups. Rumors are rife that the company may tap into silicon-carbon batteries to achieve that without making the devices bulkier. More details should surface in the coming months. Until then, it’s best to treat these early leaks with a grain of salt.
