If you were planning to reuse your foam or silicone tips from the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro with the Buds 4 Pro, you might want to think again. The upcoming Samsung earbuds use a redesigned ear tip system. This system differs from the one on the Buds 3 Pro. In short: your existing tips may not fit, needing you to buy a new pair.

Why the design change?

This isn’t a random tweak. Many Galaxy Buds 3 Pro users reported that the original tips could tear or break when removing or swapping them. This issue particularly affected the first batch of Buds 3 Pro that had quality control issues.

Why are the Eartips so bad?

With Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, Samsung appears to have strengthened the mounting system and adjusted the locking mechanism. The goal is simple: make tip swaps easier, prevent damage, and prevent the quality control issues the previous-gen models had.

Small change that actually matters

Because the connector shape and locking structure have changed, alongside the earbuds’ design, tips made for Buds 3 Pro may not attach securely. In worst cases, they may not attach at all to the Buds 4 Pro.

If you rely on third-party foam tips for better noise cancelling, improved comfort, or a more secure fit, you’ll likely need Buds 4 Pro-specific versions. You should be able to buy those shortly after Samsung officially announces the new buds.

For most users, this redesign should mean fewer broken tips and less frustration when switching sizes. It’s a tiny detail on paper, but it shows Samsung is paying attention to real-world feedback. They are not repeating the same mistake again.

For Buds 3 Pro users upgrading to the new buds, however, it adds one extra step and additional expense. So, if you’re planning to upgrade, keep this in mind: your ears might love the Buds 4 Pro, but your old ear tips probably won’t.
