One UI 6.1.1 has broken Samsung’s Edge Lighting+ app. Galaxy users have reported various issues with the app since updating to the new One UI version. It blocks the standard Edge Lighting feature. Thankfully, the company is aware of the problem and working on fixing it. There’s no timeline for its release, though.
Samsung acknowledges Edge Lighting+ issues in One UI 6.1.1
Edge Lighting+ is part of Samsung’s Good Lock customization suite. It lets users add unique effects to notifications. You can set custom styles for different notification types and set keywords to trigger certain styles. The app enhances One UI’s aesthetic experience. As the name suggests, it’s a more advanced version of the Edge Lighting feature built into One UI.
However, several Galaxy users have reported issues with Edge Lighting+ following the One UI 6.1.1 update. The app prevents the built-in Edge Lighting feature from working properly. For some users, it started working again after briefly disabling the app and then re-enabling it. Others had to delete the app data or the app itself (and reinstall it) to get Edge Lighting up and running.
Either way, the update broke something, causing inconvenience to users. After a series of reports on the official community forum, a Samsung moderator acknowledged the issue and promised to resolve it in an upcoming software update for the app. They didn’t specify the root cause of the issue, more revealed when the supposed fix will arrive. Hopefully, Samsung won’t take long.
“Please note that the S/W update schedule is flexible depending on various circumstances, so it is difficult to provide an exact schedule,” the moderator said. Since this doesn’t seem to be a major problem, Samsung should be able to fix it quickly. The company recently rolled out several bug fixes to Wonderland, another Good Lock module, though available separately.
In the meantime, if you are experiencing issues with Edge Lighting on your Galaxy phone, here’s a temporary solution you can try: disable Edge Lighting+ from Good Lock and re-enable it. If this doesn’t help, you might want to erase app data or delete it and re-install it from the Galaxy Store. We will let you know when the promised update arrives.
