Multiple reports in the past few weeks have indicated that Samsung is working on a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim variant. The device is also known as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE in the rumor mill. The new phone is said to be slightly slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which launched in July. Ahead of the launch, a report suggests that Samsung has tapped China’s Fastprint to manufacture high-density interconnect (HDI) boards for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim.
China’s Fastprint is reportedly making HDI boards for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim
According to the Korean publication, TheElec, Chinese company Fastprint is developing HDI boards for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim. The manufacturer is producing these components at its PCB factory in Beijing. The company acquired it from Japan’s Ibiden in 2022.
The source claims that the primary supply of HDI boards for the upcoming handset is significantly influenced by Ibiden’s existing tech. Notably, Ibiden was already one of the biggest suppliers of Samsung components in the past.
Notably, the components for the upcoming handset have already entered production. Samsung’s MX Division is conducting reliability tests on the Z Fold 6 SE or Slim. Furthermore, the source suggests that the initial production volume of the phone has been kept small. This will allow for adjustments based on the response the company will get from the market.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim will primarily target the South Korean and Chinese markets
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim will primarily target the South Korean and Chinese markets, suggest reports. The phone will be initially offered in limited quantities. If the new foldable does well in the aforementioned markets, there’s a possibility the brand will launch it in more markets.
As per the rumor mill, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim will flaunt a titanium body, just like the S24 Ultra flagship. Samsung is expected to consider utilizing a titanium backplate instead of stainless steel for the new variant of the Z Fold 6. It is said to measure around 10mm around the waist when folded, compared to the 12.1mm thick standard model.
The company is expected to launch the new offering at some point in the fourth quarter of the year. Some suggest a launch at some point in October. We expect the rumor mill to reveal more details about the phone soon, so watch this space for more information.
