Samsung has now completed the stable One UI 8.5 rollout for most of its recent flagship and foldable Galaxy devices. However, the Galaxy S22 series, Z Fold 4, and Z Flip 4 have yet to receive the update. And if a recent Samsung roadmap is accurate, these 2022 flagships may never get One UI 8.5.

Galaxy S22 series and Z4 foldables missing from official One UI 8.5 rollout schedule

The story started last week when reports suggested that Samsung had paused One UI 8.5 development for the Galaxy S22 series and Z4 foldables around early April. Since then, many Galaxy users have been wondering about Samsung’s plans for these devices.

Recently, Alfatürk shared Samsung Hong Kong’s official One UI 8.5 rollout schedule. As expected, the list does not include the Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, Z Fold 4, or Z Flip 4. This has further strengthened speculation that Samsung may have dropped plans to release One UI 8.5 for these devices.

Samsung usually follows a fairly consistent rollout strategy across regions. So, when a device is missing from an official schedule in one market, it often points to a similar outcome elsewhere. Based on the information available right now, it appears that One UI 8 will be the final major feature update for Samsung’s 2022 flagship and foldable devices. They should, however, continue receiving security updates until 2027.

Samsung has not yet published One UI 8.5 rollout schedules for major markets like Korea, India, and others. This leaves a small possibility that plans could still change. After all, internal One UI 8.5 development for these devices had started before being paused. Samsung may have run into technical issues that proved difficult to resolve.

For now, though, it is safest to assume that the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 will not receive the One UI 8.5 update. As for the remaining eligible Galaxy devices, Samsung is moving at an impressive pace. It could complete the broader rollout before the end of this month.
