If rumors are anything to go by, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 alongside its new foldables in just four weeks. As we get closer to launch day, what appear to be press renders of the Galaxy Watch 9 have surfaced.
Galaxy Watch 9 leaks in full press renders
Android Headlines and OnLeaks has revealed our first look at the Galaxy Watch 9. The past few days have brought a wave of leaks around the upcoming smartwatches and foldables. One of them even detailed the expected features, colors, and sizes. The latest leak seems to confirm most of that. Before we go any further, take a look at the Galaxy Watch 9:
To be fair, it looks virtually identical to the current Galaxy Watch 8 (review), which features a squircle face on the front. Samsung made the shift starting with the Watch 8, and it doesn’t seem to be changing course with the Galaxy Watch 9. I’ve been using one for almost a year now, and I can say it does grow on you over time.
The report also adds that the Galaxy Watch 9 could use the Snapdragon Wear Elite. Qualcomm unveiled the chipset earlier this year at MWC in Barcelona, and Samsung confirmed that future Galaxy Watches will use it. However, it remains unclear whether both the Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 will get Wear Elite, or if it will be limited to the latter.
Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy Watch 9 will come in 40mm and 44mm sizes. The 40mm variant may be available in Cream and Graphite, while the 44mm model could come in Silver and Graphite. As usual, both sizes will offer Bluetooth and LTE options. This is an important detail, because if true, it suggests the Galaxy Watch 9 may still not get 5G support. Reports suggest that 5G could be exclusive to the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
