Samsung Moves US Headquarters Closer to its Growing Texas Chip Business

Samsung is making a major change to its operations in the United States. The company has confirmed plans to relocate its US headquarters from New Jersey to Texas, bringing its corporate leadership closer to its growing semiconductor business. The move is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Samsung USA to shift its base, moving headquarters to Texas

For decades, Samsung’s US headquarters have been based in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. However, that will change soon as the company moves its headquarters to its existing campus in Plano, Texas. A Samsung spokesperson revealed that this shift is part of a broader business transformation aimed at supporting long-term growth.

The choice of Texas makes sense in many ways. Samsung has invested tens of billions of dollars in the state over the past several years, particularly in semiconductor manufacturing. The company’s most advanced US chipmaking facilities are located in Taylor, Texas, where it plans to manufacture cutting-edge 2nm chips.

The semiconductor business is becoming one of Samsung’s most strategically important operations in the United States. As the company expands domestic chip production and seeks to strengthen its position in the global foundry market, having its US leadership team based closer to those facilities could improve coordination and decision-making.

Plano already serves as a major Samsung hub and has been home to various company operations for decades. Relocating the US headquarters there allows Samsung to consolidate leadership within a region that is increasingly central to its future growth plans.

Interestingly, Samsung only recently opened a new North American headquarters facility in Bergen County, New Jersey. The company celebrated the opening of the site roughly a year ago, so this decision to relocate its headquarters comes as a surprise. Perhaps Samsung made the decision recently after seeing how important semiconductor manufacturing has become to its long-term strategy.
