Samsung is gradually expanding the rollout of its July 2026 security update. While no Galaxy smartphone has received the new patch yet, it is now available for the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The company previously released the update for the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 7, and Watch 6 models.
Galaxy Watch Ultra also gets Samsung’s July 2026 security update
While Samsung rolls out monthly security updates to its flagship smartphones, its smartwatch lineup only gets quarterly updates. Moreover, the updates often do not arrive in time, with new security patches rolling out several weeks or months late. The May 2026 update, for example, didn’t reach most Galaxy Watch users until the end of June.
However, the story is completely different this month. Samsung is starting its July 2026 update rollout with watches, something I do not remember happening for years. The update itself wasn’t expected, as the wearables recently picked up the May release. But not only has the company released a new patch, but also started the rollout much earlier.
The Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 7 models got it first, followed by the Watch 6 lineup. Now, Samsung has released the July 2026 update for the Galaxy Watch Ultra as well. Both the 2024 and 2025 models are picking up the new patch in some regions. A global rollout may begin soon.
The update weighs 166.97MB and carries firmware version L705NKOS3BZF4. It doesn’t appear to bring anything more than the latest security fixes. You should still install the patch as it improves the overall security of the device. To check if the update is available for your Galaxy Watch Ultra, open the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected phone, then navigate to Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install.
Meanwhile, Samsung is preparing a major feature update for its watches. It is currently testing One UI 9 Watch, which debuts with the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 later this month. Existing models should receive the update before the end of the year.
