Samsung may be preparing to introduce a new display technology for its gaming monitors. The company has recently filed trademark applications for “Odyssey Clear Motion Pro” and “Clear Motion,” suggesting a new branding for its motion-enhancement technology could be on the way. The applications were filed last month in multiple regions, including the US and UK.
These could be new motion clarity brands for Samsung gaming monitors
Clear Motion and Odyssey Clear Motion Pro appear to be Samsung’s branding for a display technology designed to improve motion clarity by reducing blur and making fast-moving content appear smoother. This can be done using techniques such as backlight strobing, black frame insertion, refresh-rate optimization, or other image-processing methods. Both trademarks carry the same official description:
Downloadable and recorded software for computer monitors, namely, software for improving image quality of computer monitors; computer monitors; LCD monitors; light emitting diode (LED) displays; televisions.
Of course, Samsung hasn’t revealed any technical details yet. However, the naming strongly suggests it targets scenarios where motion performance matters most, such as competitive gaming, sports, and fast-paced video content.
In fact, Clear Motion and Odyssey Clear Motion Pro appear largely identical. The former branding could be used across Samsung’s broader display portfolio, including mainstream monitors or even TVs. The Pro version, on the other hand, appears tailored specifically for the company’s premium Odyssey gaming monitor lineup, potentially representing an enhanced version with additional capabilities.
It’s worth noting that trademark filings don’t guarantee a commercial product. However, they often provide an early look at technologies companies intend to market in future devices. We’ll keep a close eye and let you know when we have more information about these brand names. There’s a good chance Clear Motion and Odyssey Clear Motion Pro will debut with Samsung’s next-gen Odyssey gaming monitors.
