Samsung and Microsoft have finally put a date on something that’s been quietly brewing for a while. Support for OneDrive Gallery sync is officially coming to an end, and it’s now official exactly when that’ll happen.

Hints about this change first surfaced last year through an app teardown, suggesting Samsung might move away from OneDrive in favor of its own cloud solution. At the time, there was no clear timeline. A later report pointed to April 2026, but that window has already arrived without any changes. Another leak mentioned September 2026, and that’s now been confirmed.

Both Samsung and Microsoft have updated their official support pages (h/t FragmentedChicken), locking in September 30, 2026, as the cutoff date. After that, Samsung Gallery will no longer sync photos and videos directly with OneDrive. Microsoft states that the integration will stop on that date, and Samsung echoes the same timeline.

So what does this mean for users? If you’re relying on OneDrive for Gallery backups, you’ll need to take action before the deadline. Samsung says you can download any photos and videos you want to keep on your device using the Download originals option in the Gallery app or directly through the OneDrive app.

The good news is that your existing content won’t disappear. Any photos and videos already synced to OneDrive will stay in your account and remain accessible through the OneDrive app. However, new content won’t sync automatically once the feature is retired.
