With all the hype building around the Galaxy S25 series and the upcoming stable release of One UI 7.0, it’s easy to lose track of other products in the pipeline. But don’t forget, Samsung is still working on a rugged phone, which could very well be the XCover 7 Pro. There are also whispers about the XCover 8 Pro, though we don’t know much about it yet — other than its battery specs. However, some new reports have surfaced, revealing that the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro might come with a Snapdragon twist.

Galaxy XCover 7 Pro could pack a Snapdragon chipset

According to Android Authority, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy XCover 7 Pro could pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip under the hood. This is essentially the follow-up to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, which has already made its mark in popular mid-tier phones like the Poco X6 and Redmi Note 13 Pro. While it might not be the absolute best on the market, it certainly holds its own, making it a solid choice for niche devices like the XCover 7 Pro.

The folks over at Android Authority spotted code strings hinting that the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro could be powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset. They spotted a line of code siop_xcover7pro_sm7635 where SM7635 seems to point to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. That said, the release date for the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro is still under wraps, and it’s unclear whether the device will bring any major improvements, or if it’ll just be a processor upgrade. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what shakes out in the coming weeks or months.

It’s been a while since Samsung dropped the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, which launched back in mid-2022 with a Snapdragon 778G. Meanwhile, the non-Pro version, the Galaxy XCover 7, debuted last year with a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+. So if these reports hold any water, we can definitely expect a solid jump in performance, especially in terms of the processor.
