While we’re all eyes on what’s next with One UI 7.0, the Galaxy S25 series, and the upcoming foldables, Samsung is quietly gearing up for the next iteration of its rugged phone, the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro. A new overseas listing confirms that the XCover 8 Pro is in the pipeline. However, it doesn’t give much away – aside from some improvements to the battery.
Samsung’s next rugged phone, Galaxy XCover 8 Pro, will pack 4,350 mAh battery
According to GalaxyClub, what’s believed to be Samsung’s next rugged phone, the XCover 8 Pro, has popped up on the SafetyKorea certification database. Along with that, a leaked photo of its larger battery has surfaced, showing what appears to be a 4,350mAh power pack under the hood.
For comparison, the XCover 7 Pro is equipped with a 4,050mAh battery. The Galaxy XCover 8 Pro, like its predecessor, also features a removable battery.
The 4,350mAh battery in question carries the model number EB-BG766GBY and is designed for the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro (SM-G766B). That first appeared in late October, around the time rumors about Samsung’s next rugged phone began circulating. Ningde Amperex Technology Ltd., a trusted partner of Samsung for a long time, supplies the battery.
The device isn’t expected until mid-2025
There’s no word yet on when the XCover 8 Pro will debut. However, rumors suggest it could hit shelves by mid-2025. With Samsung already lined up for a solid year in 2025, it’s likely we’ll see several other devices launch around the same time.
That being said, Samsung’s rugged phones, like the Galaxy XCover series, are primarily designed for industrial and enterprise use. They feature durable builds and are built to withstand harsh conditions. They are mostly aimed at frontline workers across various industries.
For personal use, however, you can always turn to the Galaxy S24, S24+, or S24 Ultra. Even better, you could just hold out for the debut of the Galaxy S25 series.
