Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold Name Tipped Months Before It Debuts Officially

by | Feb 3, 2025 | Galaxy Z, News

At Galaxy Unpacked on January 22, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 series. It also teased the upcoming tri-fold, or the multi-fold, suggesting that the device is indeed in the works after all the rumors. It was a subtle hint, revealing only a silhouette of what was to come. Now, we might actually know what Samsung will name its Galaxy tri-fold device.

Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold phone’s name revealed in a new leak

Tipster Yeux1122 (h/t Android Authority) revealed what Samsung might name its upcoming Galaxy tri-fold (or multi-fold, however you prefer). According to the tipster, the device could be called the Samsung G Fold. It’s definitely a name you probably weren’t expecting, right? Yeah, neither were we. But if leaks are anything to go by, the Samsung G Fold might just be a reality.

Samsung Tri Fold

The first thought that comes to my mind after hearing “Samsung G Fold” is that “Z Fold” might have been a better name, considering how the phone would unfold. But, of course, that name is already taken, and Samsung likely won’t abandon its iconic foldable line. We’re still waiting for more concrete information, so let’s take this with a grain of salt. I’d advise you to do the same. After all, Samsung was once rumored to be working on a Galaxy S25 Slim, only to reveal that the Galaxy S25 Edge was the final choice.

That said, details on the Galaxy tri-fold remain scarce. What we do know is that it will fold inward (unlike the Huawei Mate X), and it’s expected to feature a screen size of around 9.9 to 10 inches. There are also rumors that Samsung could unveil the tri-fold at the second Galaxy Unpacked event, where the company typically reveals new foldables. However, Yeux1122 suggests that the Galaxy tri-fold could debut by January 26, likely referring to January 2026. Previous reports have hinted at a Q3 2025 launch date, and honestly, I’m hoping for a release in just a few months—why not, right?
