Samsung has reportedly resolved an unknown software issue involving the Galaxy Z Fold 7‘s new S Pen, according to a noted industry tipster. The company has resumed its production, suggesting that the stylus will be available for purchase around the same time as the upcoming foldable. It will be an optional accessory sold separately.

Samsung fixes an issue with the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s new S Pen

Just days ago, rumors suggested that Samsung had halted its production due to problems with an “unknown” S Pen model. At the time, it was unclear whether the issue affected the Galaxy Z Fold 7 or another upcoming device. Now, the source confirms it was the Fold 7’s new S Pen that doesn’t require a digitizer.

Contrary to initial speculation, the problem wasn’t with the S Pen hardware itself. Instead, the issue stemmed from the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s display software responsible for reading S Pen input. This was quickly addressed, and production has since resumed without further delays. As said, Samsung has reinvented its stylus to make it work without a digitizer. While the company isn’t using AES (Active Electrostatic) tech, the S Pen still delivers precise input without increasing display thickness.

Despite this innovation, the new S Pen will not support Bluetooth features, focusing instead on delivering a lightweight, ultra-slim stylus optimized for note-taking and sketching. Samsung dropped Bluetooth functions such as Air Actions from the accessory starting with the Galaxy S25 Ultra earlier this year. The plan is to entirely drop the built-in S Pen from all mobile devices, offering it as an optional accessory.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will go official at Samsung’s next Unpacked event on July 9. If you plan to buy the device, you should check out our SammyGuru Rewards program, where you can score a FREE MYSTERY BOX with every eligible purchase. The registrations are now live (US only!).
