Samsung Browser Update Arrives on Older Galaxy Devices with New Security Features

Samsung rebranded its default web app on the Galaxy S26 series, renaming Samsung Internet to Samsung Browser. The change is now rolling out to older devices as well, not just those on One UI 8.5 beta, but also stable One UI 8 users. Alongside the new identity, the latest update brings improved security features and better overall stability.
Samsung Browser rolled out widely for Galaxy users
Samsung recently rolled out an update for its web app, introducing version 29.0.5.3. The latest release drops the Internet branding, with the app now simply called Samsung Browser, which better aligns with its purpose. The company first pushed this change on the Galaxy S26 series that ships with One UI 8.5 out of the box. It’s now available on One UI 8 as well.
This update isn’t just about fresh identity, though. Samsung is also rolling out a new safety feature designed to protect users from harmful websites. The browser can now detect potentially malicious pages and issue a warning notification before you proceed. The alert gives users a choice: exit the site or continue browsing if you know what you are doing. It serves as a reminder to avoid entering sensitive information such as passwords, banking details, or personal data.
Additionally, Samsung’s release notes mention general bug fixes and performance improvements. The company may have addressed some glitches and optimized the software for a smoother user experience.
The updated Samsung Browser is rolling out in stages to devices running One UI 8. Users can check for the update via the Galaxy Store or the Google Play Store. This release is still missing some other enhancements introduced with the Galaxy S26 series, suggesting that Samsung is taking a phased approach. More updates are likely in the coming weeks. We will keep you posted.
