Samsung’s April 2026 Patch Addresses 47 Security Threats

Samsung has detailed its April 2026 Security Maintenance Release (SMR) for Galaxy devices. This month’s SMR addresses 47 security vulnerabilities across both Samsung and the core Android system. The company has already begun rolling out the patch to several devices, including the Galaxy S26 series and S25 series.

Samsung strives to improve the security of its devices by fixing vulnerabilities that attackers could exploit. The April 2026 security update addresses 14 critical and 18 high-severity issues, as well as 1 moderate vulnerability on Android OS. These fixes come from Google to protect the Android platform from newly discovered security threats. Meanwhile, the security package also contains 4 Samsung Semiconductor patches.

Furthermore, the Korean firm has patched 10 One UI vulnerabilities, known as Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVEs). These issues affect specific components in the custom skin on Galaxy devices. For example, a vulnerability in Device Care could allow physical attackers to bypass Knox Guard. Another issue in Samsung DeX could reveal hidden notification content without proper permission.

You should install the April patch on your Galaxy as soon as possible to get the latest batch of security enhancements. You can check for the update by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If available, the system will automatically begin downloading and installing it. You will then be asked to restart your device, which is necessary for the patch to take effect.

The April patch is rolling out faster than usual, so Samsung may complete the rollout within this month for all eligible Galaxy devices.
