When I Get Galaxy Glasses, I’ll Want the Galaxy Ring Too

Ever since the Galaxy Ring launched, I’ve looked at it as a niche product. It tracks sleep, heart rate, and other health metrics well enough, but I never thought it added much to the rest of Samsung’s ecosystem. Unlike the Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Buds, it never made me feel like I was missing out if I didn’t own one.
That changed after we found references to the Galaxy Ring in unreleased Galaxy Glasses app. The code includes references to Galaxy Ring gesture controls, suggesting the company is exploring ways to use the Galaxy Ring as a controller for Galaxy Glasses.
The Ring finds its perfect match
If that’s the direction Samsung is taking, it makes perfect sense. Smart glasses are supposed to keep your hands free, but they still need an intuitive way to interact with them.

Voice commands won’t always work (my social anxiety politely declines…), and touch controls on the frame have their limits. A ring that’s already on your finger could be a much more natural solution. If our hypothesis is right, a simple pinch to capture a photo or start recording would be far more convenient than reaching for your phone.
What excites me isn’t just the feature itself. It’s what it means for the Galaxy Ring. Instead of being another wearable focused on health, it becomes an important part of the Galaxy Glasses experience.
There’s no guarantee these features will make it into the final product, but there’s a strong chance they will. And if that happens, I’ll be looking at the Galaxy Ring very differently. When I eventually get Galaxy Glasses, I don’t think I’ll want to stop there. I’ll want the Galaxy Ring too. And considering that Samsung has a Galaxy Ring 2 in the works, I hope it arrives sooner rather than later.
