First Look: One UI 9 Will Let You Create Custom Now Brief Cards

Now Brief has slowly become a headlining feature of recent Galaxy smartphones, which first debuted with the Galaxy S25 series. Since then, it’s gotten dramatically better in terms of features and information it provides. But users aren’t quite satisfied. So Samsung decided to simply let you create custom Now Brief cards using Galaxy AI. 

Make your own custom cards in Now Brief using Galaxy AI

With One UI 9 on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8, you’ll be able to generate custom Now Brief cards. You can choose from a variety of categories, including Health, Weather, and Travel. Each category also includes multiple subcategories, such as Daily Activity under Health or Weekly Forecast under Weather. These cards pull information from Samsung’s apps, including Samsung Health.

You can also provide additional context in a text field to tailor each card to your specific needs, such as showing your ETA to work every morning. You can even choose when the card appears throughout the day or have it show up only on certain days.

Just hit Generate, let the AI work its magic, and hey presto, you’ve got your new card. You can manage these cards in the Now Brief settings, where you can also create new ones. You can even edit a card directly from your Now Brief, letting you make changes on the fly.

This is an exciting new way to make the Now Brief more useful. While more recent updates have added new functionality, a change I’ve previously praised, it’s hard to argue against giving users the ability to create cards that fit their lifestyle. There will presumably be safeguards in place, so you won’t be able anything radically new. But you can tap into other Samsung apps and display your way. 

There’s a chance that these Now Brief custom cards might end up being exclusive to the Galaxy S26 series, and the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8. The former hasn’t received the feature yet, but it’ll gain access closer to One UI 9 full release.
