The One UI 7.0 beta has been available for the Galaxy S24 series for a while now. The second round of beta rolled out a few days ago, but the third round has, unfortunately, been delayed. Undoubtedly, the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 is packed with exciting new features for your Galaxy. Among these, it was revealed that a new Filter notifications feature is also on the way with One UI 7. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
One UI 7’s “Filter notifications” will clean the notification panel mess
Reddit user FragmentedChicken (via Mishaal Rahman at Android Authority) reported the upcoming Filter notifications feature. To enable this, you can head to Settings > Notifications > Advanced Settings. The functionality page describes it as “Filter notifications that are less important to you and show them as a group at the bottom of your notification panel.”
This feature offers three toggles — Old notifications, Background activities, and Minimized notifications — allowing you to customize which types of notifications are filtered. Selecting any of these toggles will filter the corresponding notifications. While we haven’t had the opportunity to thoroughly test this feature, its potential for significant utility is undeniable. I, for one, am optimistic that it will live up to its promise. You can see what toggling on either does, in the screenshots attached below.
It’s indeed helpful — super helpful
One UI 7’s implementation of “filter notifications” provides a helpful way to declutter your notification panel. This includes notifications from background activity, minimized apps, and older apps. This keeps the main notification panel clear while still allowing access to less urgent information.
Notably, this approach is more user-friendly than Android’s current solutions, which can either hide important information or require extra steps to manage background apps. That said, expect the wider One UI 7.0 rollout sometime after the launch of the Galaxy S25 series on January 22.
