Galaxy Z Wide Fold Pops Up in One UI 9 Firmware

Galaxy Z Wide Fold leaks have been pouring in lately, and they likely won’t stop anytime soon. We got a look at what the upcoming foldable model might look like through renders last month, which, no matter how good they were, were still CAD-based. Now, the upcoming Galaxy Z Wide Fold (tentative name) has shown up in One UI 9 firmware.
Galaxy Z Wide Fold could arrive with a more practical 4:3 ratio
SamMobile has obtained firmware files for the SM-F971B, which could be the international variant of the Galaxy Z Wide Fold. While digging through the files, the team found imagery that reveals the device’s aspect ratio. Based on this, it could be 4:3, which feels a bit easier on the eyes than the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 1.11:1 aspect ratio. But of course, it’s too early to judge.
A little while ago, Android Authority also managed to obtain an animation of the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. Taken together, this suggests that the Wide Fold will likely feature a 4:3 aspect ratio. It also brings it closer to the Galaxy Z TriFold (review), which Samsung has now discontinued.
Earlier today, we also spotted the Galaxy Z Wide Fold’s battery units on India’s BIS, alongside those for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. All of these foldables are expected to launch sometime this summer, so there’s still a bit of time to go. Another possible addition could be the Galaxy Buds “Able” which are likely bone conduction earbuds.
