Samsung’s bold experiment with tri-fold smartphones is already coming to an end. Just a few months after its debut, the company has officially confirmed that the Galaxy Z TriFold is being discontinued. This move also suggests that we may not see a second-gen TriFold.

Samsung pulls the plug on Galaxy Z TriFold

Launched in December 2025, the Galaxy Z TriFold has always had limited availability. Samsung limited the device to select markets, mostly using a flash-sale model where small batches were released every few weeks. The stock depleted quickly, creating the impression of overwhelming demand. However, reports indicate that only a few thousand units were made available at a time, so it’s no surprise that they got sold out within minutes.

Now, just three months after launch, Samsung has officially pulled the plug on the Galaxy Z TriFold. According to an official statement shared with Bloomberg, the company has begun discontinuing the device in South Korea. The same will happen in the US and other markets once the remaining inventory sells out.

In fact, the Galaxy Z TriFold’s official product page on Samsung’s website in the US now says the device is “Sold Out.” The company previously allowed prospective buyers to sign up to receive alerts when the next batch becomes available. This strongly suggests that the device won’t be available for purchase anymore.

Bloomberg notes that some buyers were able to find stocks at Samsung Experience Stores. Samsung’s website also tells visitors that the Galaxy Z TriFold is now exclusive to its Experience Stores. The company may sell the device offline until the stock runs out, and then close the TriFold chapter for once and all. Maybe it’ll keep a few units just for exhibition, something it already does in Japan.

Samsung shelving the Galaxy Z TriFold so soon further reinforces recent reports that the company may not follow up with a TriFold 2. The project appears to have been more of a showcase than a serious long-term play. Or maybe Samsung has better plans; we shall find out in the coming months.
