If you are hoping to see a Galaxy S26 Edge or Galaxy Z TriFold 2 anytime soon, there is some disappointing news. Samsung has not yet decided whether it will launch these smartphones due to sluggish market demand. The company appears to be evaluating sales performance and customer feedback before making a final decision.

Samsung is evaluating the future of the Galaxy S Edge and TriFold lineup

Samsung recently unveiled its Galaxy S26 series, comprising the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Last year, the company first introduced its Galaxy S25 trio and later debuted Galaxy S25 Edge as a separate addition to the series. However, this year, it has no new Edge model in its pipeline.

Won-Joon Choi, chief operating officer of Samsung’s Mobile Experience Business, said, “We haven’t made a decision when to have a next one, but it’s still being considered.”

Of course, the Galaxy S25 Edge’s slim form factor, measuring just 5.8mm thick, impressed fans around the world. However, its lower battery capacity compared to the regular flagship models led to weaker sales performance. If Samsung succeeds in integrating a larger battery into a slimmer build, could we see another Edge smartphone? Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, the future of the second-generation Galaxy Z TriFold also remains doubtful. This is mainly due to engineering challenges and the need for custom components. Moreover, the premium price tag also limits the reach of such a device to a small group of luxury buyers.

“Initially, it was more like creating a new category and putting all of our know-how into this,” Choi said. “Now we wonder, should we develop a new one? We have not made a decision yet.”

The good news is that the executive hinted at a wider version of its standard Galaxy Z Fold. This device will reportedly feature a 4:3 aspect ratio for the inner display, offering a tablet-like experience. “Obviously, if you have a TriFold kind of aspect ratio, it’s optimized for that kind of experience and application,” said Choi. The Galaxy Wide Fold should go official alongside the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 this summer.
