Last week, Samsung began rolling out a new update for Expert RAW app. The update has now reached the Galaxy Z Fold 7, bringing a new camera feature called Ocean Mode. As usual, it could take a few days to reach all eligible users, so you may want to wait a little.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 users can also experience advanced underwater photography

For the uninitiated, Ocean Mode is not a new concept for Samsung. The company originally developed the feature as a customized camera mode for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, it was not intended for general consumer use, limiting the mode to oceanographers. The feature helps researchers take clear underwater photos, handling issues of excessive blue tones. This helps scientists create 3D photogrammetry models to monitor and restore coral reefs.

Thankfully, this year, Samsung brought Ocean Mode to the latest Galaxy S26 Ultra via the Expert RAW app. This is a welcome move, as the feature is no longer limited to specialized scientific use. A few days ago, the company released version 5.0.08.2 of its advanced camera app for Galaxy S25 Ultra with Ocean Mode support. The same update has now started hitting the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (review) as well, extending access to the feature across multiple flagship devices.

As SamMobile points out, the feature is available when you use the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in its folded state. It uses all three rear camera units: main, ultrawide, and telephoto. We can see a warning message that says “Underwater housing required.” “Ocean mode does not make your phone waterproof. To prevent damage, only use this feature when your phone is sealed inside a housing designed for diving,” the description reads.
