The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are receiving Samsung’s May 2026 security update in more markets globally. The rollout began in South Korea last week and is now making its way into other regions, including Europe. It should soon reach the US shores.

May 2026 security update now rolling out globally for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7

A couple of weeks after rolling out One UI 8.5, Samsung released the May security patch for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. As usual, users in Korea got it first, but it didn’t take long for the company to kick off a global rollout. The two 2025 foldables are getting the new update with firmware versions F966BXXS9BZE2 and F766BXXS9BZE2, respectively.

While the build version may vary depending on the region, model, and carrier, users worldwide can expect an update weighing around 500MB. It’s a relatively small firmware release focused on security improvements. Samsung has already rolled out a major feature release in the form of One UI 8.5, which introduced several new features and functional enhancements.

This month’s security update for Galaxy devices addresses close to 40 vulnerabilities of varying severity. These include some critical patches as well. Installing this update on your Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Flip 7 helps improve overall system protection and device stability. These updates are important for maintaining device safety and ensuring compatibility with newer apps and services.

Users can manually check for the new firmware by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Since Samsung distributes updates in phases, availability may vary by country, carrier, and device model. Some users may receive the update immediately, while others could wait a few more days. The May 2026 security patch will gradually arrive on more Galaxy devices, so stay tuned.
