Breaking! Galaxy A16 5G, A17 5G and A26 Start Getting One UI 8.5 Update

Samsung dropped a surprise today. The company unexpectedly released the One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy A26, Galaxy A16 5G, and Galaxy A17 5G. These budget phones pick up the big update ahead of some heavyweights, including the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy A35, and Galaxy A55.
Samsung releases One UI 8.5 for Galaxy A26, A16 5G, and A17 5G
The Galaxy A26 is receiving One UI 8.5 in several Southeast Asian markets, including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines. A few other regions are receiving it as well. The update arrives with firmware version A266BXXU9CZEA. Samsung’s popular budget phones – the Galaxy A16 5G and A17 5G are also getting One UI 8.5. The release has taken place in Malaysia and Vietnam. They get build numbers A166PXXU7DZE2 and A176BXXU5CZE9, respectively.
Samsung also launched 4G versions of the latter two phones. As of this writing, One UI 8.5 hasn’t been released for the standard Galaxy A16 and Galaxy A17. However, the company is expected to begin rolling out the update for those models soon. This might happen sometime next week if things stay on track.
Hopefully, One UI 8.5 will also soon reach the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy A35, and Galaxy A55. Some older models may have to wait longer, though. Samsung usually takes a few months to complete major software rollouts. If things continue at this pace, the Korean giant could finish the One UI 8.5 rollout for all eligible devices worldwide by the end of July, if not earlier.
If you own a Galaxy A26, A16 5G, or A17 5G, it is worth checking for the much-awaited update. Head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Once the update appears and downloads, tap Install now. Your phone will reboot, and the awesome new changes will be applied.
