New Leak Hints at MediaTek Chip and Advanced AI Features for Galaxy Tab S12

For the past few years, Samsung has used MediaTek’s Dimensity processors in its flagship tablets. There may not be any change in that strategy this year, with a new discovery hinting at the latest Dimensity flagship inside the Galaxy Tab S12 series. The new tablets are expected later this year.
Galaxy Tab S12 series may use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500
During a teardown of Samsung’s AI Core app, Android Authority discovered references to a chipset bearing the model number “MT6993.” It corresponds to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 processor. While there’s no mention of any device, Samsung currently has no product confirmed to feature the new MediaTek chip. The Galaxy Tab S12 is the only logical name here.
Fabricated on TSMC’s 3nm process node, the Dimensity 9500 features an octa-core CPU with one C1-Ultra core clocked at 4.21GHz, three C1-Premium cores at 3.5GHz, and four C1-Pro cores at 2.7GHz. MediaTek has paired the CPU with the ARM Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU. The chip should bring industry-leading performance to the Galaxy Tab S12 lineup.
Besides raw performance, the new tablets could boast a wide range of AI features. After all, Samsung has been aggressively expanding Galaxy AI across its smartphones, tablets, and foldables in recent years. The Galaxy Tab S12 lineup may continue that trend with even deeper on-device AI integration focused on creativity and productivity.
This discovery hints at AI wallpaper generation, generative photo editing, and image expansion tools. The Tab S12 series may dynamically adjust colors, lighting, contrast, and overall tone in edited photos to produce more natural-looking results. Their large screens and built-in S Pen support make the tablets ideal canvases for photo editing and drawing. More details about the devices should surface in the coming weeks as Samsung prepares for their launch.
